Book Fair To Benefit Learn To Read

A book fair is planned at Barnes & Noble, 1930 U.S. 1 South,  Feb. 4 from noon to 5 p.m. to benefit Learn to  Read of St. Johns County, Inc . A percentage of all books sales and cafe purchases at the store that day will be donated to Learn to Read, as will online sales through Feb. 8, with the use of the Learn to Read voucher – number 12079729.

At 1 p.m. Feb. 4, a story time for children is planned with St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver dressed as Queen Isabella reading Susan Calfee’s book for young readers, “St. Augustine A-Z.”

Another youthful event will be a Lego building competition from noon to 6  p.m., with prizes awarded in age categories. Ages are 6 to 8, 8 to 12 and 13 to 16.

Readings and book signings will be conducted by Amy Quincy “Misadventures of a Happy Heart: A Memoir of Life Beyond Disability” at 2 p.m.; Flagler College author Leslee Keyes, “Hotel Ponce de Leon: The Rise, Fall and Rebirth of Flagler’s Gilded Palace” at 3 p.m.;  Sid Ansbacher, Esq., reading from Benjamin Ludwig’s book “Original Ginny Moon,”  at 4 p.m. Ansbacher is chairman-elect of Learn to Read board of directors.
