PALATKA – The Pilot Club of Palatka celebrated 60 years of service to the community Jan. 24 during a birthday celebration at Corky Bell’s. Highlights of the evening included announcement of the club sweetheart and introduction of past presidents.
Lynda Fitzstephens was honored as 2016 club sweetheart for her service to the 27-member organization during the past year. A bouquet of yellow roses was presented to her by Carol Brooks, president.
Past presidents were introduced including Nancy Stoutenburg Kelly, who served from 1985-86; and Kay Powell, 1987-88.
Entertainment for the evening was a Chinese Auction, which raised nearly $400, so auction organizers challenged Co-Pilots attending to perform dances to raise the shortage to reach the $400 goal – a goal which was reached along with a lot of laughter.
Among those attending the celebration were six Pilot members from St. Augustine: Leslie Coleman, immediate past president of St. Augustine and current North Central Region Governor for the Florida District; Lynne Stephenson, St. Augustine president; Sara Hetherington, president-elect; Rayma Thomas, Marcia Lane and Anne Heymen.
