Book signing for ‘Murder in St. Aug.’

Author Elizabeth Randall will be in St. Augustine Feb. 26 to sign copies of her recently-released book Murder in St. Augustine (True Crime) Paperback. The book signing continues from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anastasia Books, 76A San Marco Ave.

Subject of Murder in St. Augustine is the death of Athalia Ponsell Lindsley. As promotional material for the paperback explains, “The murder of Athalia Ponsell Lindsley is notorious more than four decades after it occurred. The only eyewitness said a man attacked Lindsley with a machete in broad daylight on the front steps of her white mansion.

“Gossip swirled that neighbor Frances Bemis knew who killed Lindsley and would notify authorities. Bemis was later murdered on her nightly walk. Police arrested only one suspect for Lindsley’s murder, which remains unsolved to this day.

” Author Elizabeth Randall puts the rumors to rest through research culled from over one thousand pages of depositions, records, official county documentation and interviews.”

Randall a free lance writer and author of four books, is also a high school English teacher. Her published books include Haunted St. Augustine and St. Johns County; and Women in White: The Haunting of Northeast Florida.
