May Street congestion Feb. 15 Vilano topic

Vilano Main Street will meet with St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver at 4 p.m. Feb. 15 at Hampton Inn, Vilano Road. Topic will be the closures of Nelmar Street and East San Carlos, with residents of the Vilano/North Beaches area explaining to the mayor that closures of these streets is not just an inconvenience. The safety of the thousands of people who must travel a now more congested and dangerous May Street is a serious problem.

Residents are urged to attend and wear red, representing tail lights which is a perfect visual sign of opposition to the closure.

Also being organized is a children’s protest, and children are invited to meet at the North Shores Community Center, 120 Meadow Ave., at 3:30 p.m. with their bikes and wearing red. They will ride as a group over to the Hampton Inn.
