SAINT AUGUSTINE – A night of Italian music to close out concert series

The Jacksonville University Orchestra will close out the 2016-17 concert series at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Sunday, April 23 with an evening of Italian music. The program, which begins at 6 p.m., will include Berlioz’ festive Roman Carnival Overture, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, The Italian and the Hebrides Overture, and the finale, Respighi’s Pines of Rome.

The Jacksonville University Orchestra is comprised of JU students, faculty and community members, and is conducted by Director of Orchestral Activities, Dr. Marguerite Richardson.

Since coming to JU in 2007, Dr. Richardson, a violinist who also plays in the Jacksonville Symphony, has expanded the ensemble’s size and repertoire, including both classical and “pops” programming, radio play productions, musicals and operas, and movie sound track recordings.

St. Anastasia Catholic Church is located at 5205 A1A South on Anastasia Island. The free concert series was arranged by Peter Morin, music director at the church. Free parking is available at the church. For information call 471-5364.
