Summer reading program beginning
PALATKA – The summer reading program in Putnam County kicks off Saturday June 3 at 10 a.m. in all five branches of the Putnam County Library System.
Special Kick-Off guests include:
- Bostwick Public Library: Holly Thomas returns with a Super Powered STEAM Workshop
- Melrose Public Library:Professor Mullet presents a Butterfly Adventure @ 10:30am
- Interlachen Public Library:Kathy Fisk with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary talks about boat safety.

The Summer Reading Challenge continues from June 3-July 15. Everyone who turns in a reading log receives a certificate as well as special prizes and incentives. Be sure to pick up the correct Reading Log for your age group! The library’s top readers compete with other readers in their age group for additional prizes and awards.
Certificates and ribbons are awarded to top readers in each of our five library branches. Age groups are Infant and Toddler (ages 0-5), School Age (6-10), Teen (11-18), and Adult (18+). The top reader between the ages of 6-10 with the most hours read across the entire library system is awarded the Key of Knowledge and declared the overall winner (for the entire system). Only 1 top reader is awarded the Key of Knowledge every summer.
