Summer fun at Putnam libraries

Father’s Day recognition and much more is planned by the Putnam County Library System.

Attention fathers: Bring your kids to the library and check out the Crescent City Library’s new makerspace (including a 3D printer, robots, electronic kits, VR glasses, Minecraft Stop Motion Studio, and more!). Let’s get our kids on the right track with these fun, hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math workshops.

Fathers (and mothers and grandparents) are encouraged to bring their kids to take part in this exciting new technology-focused event. We’ll have food and drinks outside including a cookout with free hotdogs – sponsored by the Crescent City Library Board. Saturday, June 17 from10:30 a.m. to -12:30 p.m.

EVERYONE who completes and turns in a reading log is invited to the Summer Program Finale Celebration (with special guest performer). The event is held at the Edgar Johnson Senior Center on Westover Road in Palatka on Saturday, July 29 starting at 10 a.m. Top readers will receive their certificates and ribbons (and any additional prizes) at an Awards Ceremony with cupcakes! Bring your cameras!

Afterwards, participants are invited to join us for a Pool Party next door at the Putnam Aquatics Center. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

ADULTS CAN JOIN in the fun of Summer Reading Challenge, too! For every book check out and read, you’ll be given a raffle ticket! Use your ticket(s) to enter raffle drawings for fun gift baskets (which include books, adult coloring books, and more). You can even get credit for e-books that you read from NEFLIN Overdrive. Did you know that Overdrive has apps for your e-reader, tablet, and smart phones? You can check out up to five e-books or audiobooks at a time – for FREE – and never have to worry about late fees. The books automatically check themselves back in.
