Q:    What are some annuals that should be included in a cut flower garden?

A:    Zinnias, marigolds, snapdragons, cosmos and cornflowers are some annuals to try. The trick is finding tall varieties as short types are most commonly offered since they can be left in a small container longer. You might try growing from seed to get tall forms.

 

Q:    How do I collect seeds from annuals? Will poppy and snapdragon seeds come back true to type?

 A:    Let the flowers stay on the plant so they will produce and mature the seeds. Remove the browned, dried flower heads and then harvest the dried seeds from them. Annuals should come back true to type unless other varieties were grown in the same area and cross-pollination occurred.
