SAINT AUGUSTINE – Johanna Ceballos is the new president of the 45-member Anchor Club at St. Joseph Academy. Installation ceremonies, at which 25 new members were welcomed into the organization, were conducted Oct. 19 in the Media Center at the school.
The club is sponsored by the Pilot Club of St. Augustine.
Rene Naughton, Pilot sponsor of the SJA Anchor group along with Jo Brown, conducted the ceremonies, assisted by Sara Hetherington, Pilot president; Laura Currie and Sister Suzan Foster, SJA faculty sponsors.
Serving with Johanna will be Joshua Ceballos, president-elect; Faith Donasco, secretary; Andoni Alfonso, treasurer; and Mollie Cavanaugh, chaplain.
Outreach to the homeless is one of the major Anchor projects this school year. Recent projects included a sock drive and assembling 125 lunch packets which were distributed through St. Francis House. Upcoming will be a canned food drive in November, conducted by both Anchor and Interact of SJA; and adoption of a family for December, “making sure the children have nice Christmas gifts,” Currie noted.
