Needlepoint Textile Guild topic

SAINT AUGUSTINE – The Textile Ars Guild of St. Augustine meets Thursday, Nov. 9, with a program by Lois Hoeft, discussing the history and craft of needlepoint.

The Guild’s business session begins at 10 a.m. followed by the program in the City Hall/Lightner Museum Building, Suite 143, 75 King St.

The Guild’s mission is two-fold, to preserve the textile arts and crafts from St. Augustine’s founding in 1565 through Statehood in 1845, and to encourage interest in the historic and contemporary arts. The Guild, which meet monthly, September through May, holds open studio gatherings on Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Suite 143 unless notice is given otherwise.

Prospective members are always welcome, according to President Ruth Kurlandsky. “We’d love to see past members return and new members appear,” she said. “Join us for a ‘time out’ of friendship and creativity.”

Annual dues are $25. Prospective new members may contact the Guild at TextileArtsGuild@gmail.com. The Guild’s Facebook page is: St. Augustine Textile Arts Guild.
