New documentary on PBS on Dec. 26
A new two-hour documentary, Secrets of Spanish Florida-A Secrets of the Dead Special, which tells the story of St. Augustine’s colonial years, will premiere on Public Broadcasting System (PBS) nationwide on Tuesday, December 26.
The film covers one story of America’s past that was not included in many textbooks, and is told through leading archaeologists, maritime scientists, and historians who share the story of Florida’s earliest settlers. The film introduces the St. Augustine story to a national audience who may be hearing it for the first time, and while many in the St. Augustine community will know much of the story, the film reveals many historical facts that may not be as well known.
Locally, the program will be broadcast on WJCT-TV on Tuesday, Dec.r 26 at 9 p.m.
