Time to mow down in Hastings
HASTINGS — The Great Hastings Mow Down takes over North Main Street Saturday (March 10) during a new festival that brings a smile just with its name. Lawn tractors and push mowers are featured during racing events that include adult Zero Turn Drag Races, Lawn Tractor Race Course, Young Mowers Lawn Tractor Race Course (ages 13-17), Rat Tractor Race Course and Mini-Mower Racers (ages 4-8).
A parade, bluegrass music, races, food trucks and local Team Up vendors as well as other cottage industry vendors will be part of the day’s events.
First Mow Down Queen will be Linda M. Brandt of St. Augustine, who will be leading the parade. A noted artist, she created the event logo and poster design. She’s donated the poster design painting to the Rotary Club of Hastings to help raise additional funds.
The family-friendly event, which begins at 10 a.m., is hosted by the Rotary Club of Hastings and supported by the members of Hastings Team Up.
The event is free to spectators.
