Earth Day celebrations spotlighted

Earth Day will be celebrated around the area this weekend.

1. AUGUSTINE

At the St. Augustine Lighthouse, Comcast Cares Day is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 22, with a Volunteer Clean-Up Day. The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum has been identified by Comcast to take part in their national initiative Comcast Cares Day. As part of the day, Comcast will donate a monetary amount for each volunteer who participates in the clean-up, whether they are a Comcast employee or a Lighthouse volunteer. PUTNAM COUNTY

An Earth Day gala is planned  from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Dunns Creek State Park. Highlights include live music, bike rides, kids activities, demonstrations, boat rides, nature tours and much more.

Proceeds from the day are used to assist in the maintenance and improvement of the park. Anyone who would like to volunteer is invited to call 386-329-3721 or email raymond.presley@dept.state.fl.us.
