Lots to do and see at Ravine Gardens

PALATKA – Lots of exciting events are planned at Ravine Gardens State Park in coming weeks.

Ravine Gardens is going to be at the Bartram Frolic on Saturday Sept. 29 in celebration of the historic travels of William Bartram. Featured will be living history demonstrations by William Bartram, the Long Warrior “King of the Seminoles,” Trader Job Wiggens, Fort Mosé soldiers, Colonists, and inhabitants of the Seminole village that lived along the 18th century river.

There’s Kayaking 101 at Dunns Creek Saturday, Sept. 22; Saturday, Oct. 6; and Tuesday, Oct. 16.

Dunns Kayaking Tours are planned Tuesdays, Sept. 11, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16.

 

Oct. 27, an absolutely horrifying time is promised in celebration of Halloween, when the gardens is transformed into the Headless Horseman’s playground. Highlights include a bounce house, Dunk a Ranger booth, lots of good food and scary tales from the St. Augustine Tale Tellers.

Event admission is $2 per person; kids 6 and under free.

This is a cash-only event. Some activities including the bounce house and dunking booth request a donation to participate. All proceeds from the event support the following year’s programs.

Parking within Ravine Gardens is limited.
