Good time now to replant spider lilies

Email your gardening questions to Keith at keithfuller602@att.net.

Q:   I have some spider lilies that have gotten overgrown. When can I transplant them?

A:   September to March is a good time to transplant them. Often, moving them interferes with the flower cycle so they may not bloom the season after moving them.

Q:   An interesting blue-flowered plant has come up in my flower bed. The leaves of the plant look similar to a daylily. The plant is in a clump. Do you know the name of this plant?

A:   Spiderwort is probably the name of the plant in question. It can be rather invasive so keep it under control. Some varieties that are less aggressive are often offered for sale through mail order companies.
