Shabbat rites at Sons of Israel

SAINT AUGUSTINE – Rabbi Joel Fox will officiate at First Congregation Sons of Israel the weekend of March 6 to lead Shabbat services.  The Erev Shabbat service begins at 7:30 p.m., on Friday.  An Oneg Shabbat, sponsored by Gerry and June Neumark, and by Karen Stern, will follow the Erev Shabbat service.

Saturday, March 7 at 10: a.m., the Shabbat service will be held.  A light kiddush lunch will follow sponsored by Lois Cohen and Margie Wyzan.

This coming Shabbat is known as Shabbat Zakhor, “Sabbath of Remembrance.” Further, there is a special maftir that is read describing and recounting the attack by Amalek, which those in attendance should make a special effort to hear that reading.
