Memorial Day tribute

SAINT AUGUSTINE – Members of the Pilot Club of St. Augustine and volunteers from the community gathered in front of the City of St. Augustine/Lightner Building Saturday morning to place some 1,000 flags in front of city hall. This is an annual Memorial Day tribute sponsored by the club which salutes living and deceased individuals who served in all branches of the military. Added this year was a section recognizing First Responders.

There is no charge.

The flags will remain in front of city hall until 5 p.m. Monday, when club members and community volunteers will return to the area to remove them.

Kay Burtin chaired the tribute. Jo Brown is club president, and Vicki Sellner is president-elect.
