- AUGUSTINE – The St. Augustine Humane Society has its 2017 “Pin Up Paws” fundraising pet calendars available for sale at a donation of $10. The calendars support the non-profit’s mission to prevent pet overpopulation with affordable spay and neuter programs, and to eliminate the need to relinquish pets to shelters. Additional program initiatives include a charity pet clinic, low-cost spay neuter program, dog training classes, pet food bank, pet grooming at the Society Pet Spa, and the Humane Society’s re-homing service, among others.
Each year, the Humane Society produces the unique and fun calendars featuring local pets that compete for featured monthly pages. This year, calendar votes raised close to $15,000 for the non-profit organization with terrier mix Fletcher Watson, the favorite dog that raised $3,475 for first place and the cover. The 2017 calendar depicts a travel destination with the winners posing as tourists. The new “Travel Tails” calendar is available at locations in St. Augustine including the Humane Society at 1665 Old Moultrie Road; Amiro Art & Found Gallery, 9 Aviles St., and Dogtown at 6988 US-1, #301.
Additionally, the recent Pin Up Paws winners will be honored with a party on Thursday, Jan. 26. From 6 to 9 p.m. , a dinner will feature music, cocktails, auction, wine pull, and photo booth at Mark Lance Armory, 190 San Marco Ave. in St. Augustine.
