Freedom Church along with the support of numerous members of the community is organizing the 3rd Annual Spring Fling, which will serve as a benefit event to raise funds for St. Augustine High School junior Caleb Farrell.
Caleb, 17 , has been diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma (brain tumor). He had surgery and extensive proton treatment two years ago and the tumors have returned double. The doctors are not sure they will be able to remove the brain tumors completely this time. It is the goal of the spring fling to help ease the financial burden felt by the family during this difficult time.
The second beneficiary of this year’s fundraiser is 7- year-old Kaiden Olsen. Kaiden was diagnosed with Vascular/Venous Malformation in November 2015.
Vascular/Venous Malformation is the abnormal development of the veins in Kaiden’s case the malformations are located in her skull, neck and spine. It is the hope to assist the family with some of their medical expenses.
Additionally, 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Jerad Revels Scholarship Fund. Jerad passed away in 2013 in a farming accident. The scholarship fund is a tremendous way to honor this young man and we are pleased to have them associated with tbe event.
The 3rd Annual Spring Fling will take place at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds March 11, and will host a Horseshoe Tournament, a Cornhole Tournament, a BBQ competition as well as a Kid Zone, Local Vendors, Raffles and Live Music from local bands.
