SAINT AUGUSTINE – Vacationers and locals can sample the wide variety of St. Augustine cuisine at this popular annual culinary festival and learn about the history of the Vilano Beach area on the Tour of Homes events April 7 and 8.
The Vilano Beach Festival – Dish N Fish and Tour of Homes in St. Augustine is an annual outdoor food festival featuring culinary “delights” from participating area restaurants and food vendors. There will also be live music all day long and plenty of fun activities for children Saturday, April 8th. Vilano Beach Main Street produces the event annually in concert with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and partner VISIT FLORIDA. All proceeds benefit Main Street improvement projects and culinary students participating in the FRLA ProStart Program.
This is the second annual “Dish N Fish,” and this event is quickly becoming one of Vilano’s favorite annual offerings. Visitors can sample delicious samples from the student chefs and then vote on their favorite one for “People’s Choice” award. Donations are encouraged to fund the student ProStart Program. Visitors may watch student teams perform under pressure creating their Dish of the Day to be judged by industry experts and the visitors.
TOUR OF HOMES
Entertainment for the Sea Turtle Soiree event of the Tour of Homes comes from the Bay Kings. A five piece ensemble will be positioned under a huge tent at the end of the Vilano Pier and provide music from the Art Deco 1920s era to celebrate Vilano’s beginnings. Food and drinks are catered and reflect the “tastes” of the times. Costumes are encouraged for the party on the pier. Two favorite family dance acts, Showtime USA and the Legacy Irish Dance Company, will kick off Saturday for Dish N Fish events at noon. The line-up is filled with the area’s finest musicians back by popular demand: Ron Norris, Amy Hendrickson, Sam Pacetti, Dewey Via, Joe Schauer, Chelsea Saddler, and Crawford Boyd. Surfside Studios is organizing entertainment.
New this year will be the Tour of Homes, which will begin on Friday April 7 and continue to Saturday, April 8. Visitors will learn about Vilano Beach’s historic past, present and future developments in a Home Seminar, funded in part by a grant from VISIT FLORIDA.
On Saturday Old Town Trolley Tours will have two vehicles available to transport visitors. Walking and biking is encouraged through the area. Seven area properties in Porpoise Point, Old Vilano, and Surfside fill the itinerary. A souvenir Tour Booklet details each property and its history. Dish N Fish and the North Shores Community Center will be filled with memorabilia for all to learn more about Vilano including the historic book, Vilano and the North Beaches. Prints of the homes will be available. Beach 105.5 and WFOY will be offering live broadcast at different times during the weekend events.
