Memorial Day tribute from Pilot Club

SAINT AUGUSTINE – Volunteers from the Pilot Club, 4-H and St. Joseph Academy, along with friends of all three groups turned out May 27 to place flags in front of the Lightner Building this Memorial Day.
The flags, which are marked with names of those who have served in the Armed Forces, represent both living and deceased individuals who have fought for freedom for this country.
This tribute to the military has been a tradition for the Pilot Club for a number of years. Several hundred flags are on display this year, and will remain in front of the city hall building until early on the morning of May 30.
The Pilot Club of St. Augustine is part of an international organization which is devoted to service in the community. The local organization was chartered Sept. 8, 1936.
Tadzia Tadzia Alexander, who was in charge of this year’s tribute, and is pictured above with Sister Suzan from St. Joseph Academy, will serve as president-elect for the 2017-18 club year.
