The 2017 COA Championship Golf Tournament is set for Monday, Aug. 28 at World Golf Village’s Slammer and Squire, 2 World Golf Place
The 2017 COA Gala will be held on Sunday Aug. 27, beginning at 5:30 pm at River House, 179 Marine St. Highlights include dinner and cocktails and live and silent auctions with unique art, gift, entertainment and travel items. Tickets are $95 per person.

COLUMBIA BENEFIT
The Columbia Restaurant has again chosen COA as one of the charitable organizations to benefit from its 20th Annual Columbia Restaurant Community Program.
The public is invited to “Dine Out” for either lunch or dinner during the month of September and earn money for the Council on Aging.
Simply dine at the Columbia Restaurant – you will receive a “ballot” with your meal check. Mark the Council on Aging as your charity of choice and a portion of your bill will be donated to COA.

RIVER HOUSE ACTIVITIES
Bellydance for Healing with Ronnie Ambar is a dance class that combines the ancient movements of bellydance, with a variety of healing & relaxation practices. This 4 week series class will be held at River House, 179 Marine St., Thursdays from noon-1p.m. August 10, 17, 24 & 31. Cost is $25 for River House Activity Members and $30 for non-members. AARP – Smart Driver Improvement Course will be held at River House, 179 Marine St., Tuesday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. – 3p.m. Reservations are required; call 209-3655. Cost at the door is $20 for AARP members and $25 for Non-AARP members. You must bring your AARP Membership card to receive the discount.
Easter Seals – Marian Poole: Easter Seals & Florida Telecommunications, Relay, Inc. distributes free amplified phones to anyone who is a Florida Resident, has a hearing impairment, and has a home land line or a smart phone with Blue Tooth. This free service will be presented by Marion Poole from Easter Seals on Tuesday July 18 at the Coastal Community Center from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and at the River House from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Please stop by for a view of these free amplified phones. Senior Sexuality Lecture has as its goal to encourage companionship, open communication, and various forms of intimacy; along with the knowledge needed to protect ourselves from sexually transmitted diseases.
