At the COA – Walking to calligraphy

SAINT AUGUSTINE  – The St. Johns County Falls Prevention Coalition, in conjunction with National Falls Prevention Day, is getting ready for the 2017 Walk Steady expo n Saturday, Sept. 23. Join in the fun at the Solomon Calhoun Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and take part in the mile walk, health screenings, balance assessments, and demonstrations! Plus there will be complimentary healthy snacks and door prizes.

Bellydance for Healing with Ronnie Ambar  is a four week series class at River House, 179 Marine St., , on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 10, 17, 24 & 31. Cost for the series is $25 for River House Activity Members and $30 for non-members. Space is limited, please call 209-3655 for registration.

Hand lettering Calligraphy Class is planned Thursday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. – noon. at River House, 179 Marine St No experience is necessary and all supplies are included in the cost. Cost for members is $50 and $55 for non-members. Space is limited and advanced payment and reservations are required by Monday, September 11. Please call 209-3655 to register.

Modern Calligraphy Class is Thursday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. p.m. at River House, 179 Marine St.. Cost for members is $50 and cost for non-members is $55. Each student will receive a calligraphy kit. No experience is necessary and all supplies are included in the cost. Space is limited and advanced payment and reservations are required by Monday, Aug. 28. Please call 209-3655 to register.

Dr. Kasraeian Lecture: Orthopedic surgeon, Sina Kasraeian, MD will discuss both surgical and non-surgical, to treat shoulder injuries and resolve pain at the River House, 179 Marine St., Thursday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. Light refreshments will be available. This lecture is complimentary and open to the public. Call 209-3655 to register.

The Columbia Restaurant has again chosen COA as one of the charitable organizations to benefit from its 20th Annual Columbia Restaurant Community Program.

“Dine Out” for either lunch or dinner during the month of September and earn money for the Council on Aging. Patrons will receive a “ballot” with the meal check.  Mark the Council on Aging as your charity of choice and a portion of your bill will be donated to COA.
