SAINT AUGUSTINE – The Florida Department of Transportation will host a construction open house regarding the San Marco Avenue/May Street/W. San Carlos Avenue intersection improvement project and the May Street drainage project Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Alcazar Room, City Hall, 75 King St.
The public is invited to attend the open house anytime during the two hours to learn more about the projects including time frame, construction activities, traffic impacts and other details. FDOT project staff will be available to answer questions. This is an informal open house and no presentation is scheduled.
Construction of the new intersection configuration is set to begin in mid-September and is scheduled to be open for operation in summer 2018.

Ancient City Slickers will perform for Concerts in the Plaza at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17. Their sound is unique for any particular song may employ banjos, tuba, washboard, percussion, guitar, washtub bass (aka gutbucket), kazoos, and the only cacaphonium on the First Coast.
Solar Eclipse Viewing: St. Johns County, in partnership with NASA@MyLibrary, is hosting a free solar eclipse viewing celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park, 10 North Holmes Blvd.
Residents and visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and view the solar eclipse, the first coast-to-coast eclipse in over 100 years.
Safety glasses, provided by the Space Science Institute, as well as solar-filtered telescopes and binoculars will be provided to participants to view the eclipse.

The Galimore Community Pool’s new hourswill continue through the rest of the pool’s 2017 season which concludes on Sunday, Oct.r 1.
The new operating hours for both family swim and lap swim are:
Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 6 -10 am
Tuesday/Thursday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday: Noon to 6 p.m.
