SAINT AUGUSTINE –The St. Augustine Humane Society launched its seventh annual pet photo contest and 2018 calendar fundraiser in June to support the non-profit’s mission of promoting healthy lifelong pet ownership and reducing the rate of relinquishment to shelters. Nearing the deadline for contest entries is Thursday, Sept. 7 at 11:59 pm and voting ends on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 8:59 pm EDT.
The tax-deductible entries and voting donations may be made through a secure online payment at www.PinUpPaws.com. The Cutest Show on Earth” Pin Up Paws calendars available in November will feature the winning pets and an imaginary carnival theme while the dog or cat is fitted with accessories to match their unique personalities. Cost per calendar is $11. For more information, call (904) 829-2737 or email email@example.com. Visit the contest website at www.pinuppaws.com
The top three pets to win votes to date include Liam, a rare male albino Pekinese rescue dog from St. Augustine; Chelsea, a senior female Pit Bull mixed breed from Ponte Vedra Beach, and Dixie, an internationally well-travelled female Chihuahua Dachshund from St. Johns.
Winning pets will receive the customized styling and photography sessions with award winning photographer, Addison Fitzgerald who has donated his talents to the Humane Society for more than seven years. Also, for seven years, local fine artist and graphic designer, Maribel Angel continues to donate her creative talents to designing a distinctive calendar publication. And, for the third year, the Humane Society is receiving a promotional billboard to be donated by Clear Channel Outdoor for eight weeks along I-95 in St. Johns County.
“Now the contest gets fast and furious with votes and entries from pet owners and enthusiasts along with friends, family, and supporters to meet our fundraising goal of $18,000,” said Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s Executive Director.
According to Smith, the community is encouraged to watch the non-profit’s Facebook page for calendar and entry announcements and mini contests until the deadlines. Gift Certificates from the Columbia Restaurant in St. Augustine will be awarded periodically to pet owners who gain new votes. All proceeds from submissions, votes, sponsorships, and sales will benefit the programs and services of the St. Augustine Humane Society. The campaign and calendar sales and events will benefit St. Augustine Humane Society’s spay neuter surgery clinic, along with services and programs, and current expansion.
