PALATKA – There is lots of news from the Putnam County Library System.
September is Library Card Signup Month and Fine Free. A new library card is free for any resident of Putnam County – regardless of age. The library system also has reciprocal borrowing relationships with surrounding counties. So, residents of St. Johns, Clay, Alachua, and any other county that touches Putnam County can get a card at the Putnam County Library System, too. Non-residents can get a card for a $30 annual fee.

Upcoming is PRIME TIME FAMILY READING TIME®, a program designed to help children improve reading skills by involving the whole family in making reading fun. It’s is a unique program that includes storytelling, reading, and discussion for parents and children aged 6 to 10. The programs are free and include a nutritious meal, door prizes, and gift books. Fun story times that encourage early reading skills for 3-5 year old siblings are also offered.

Meet Sam Carr and Ken Mahaffey – from the Bartram Trail in Putnam County Committee at the Crescent City Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.. The program will feature information about the trails, including the upcoming Bartram Frolic on the St. Johns River (in downtown Palatka), as well as an up-close look at several museum-quality reproductions of Bartram’s famous illustrations.

THE FABRIC ARTS GROUP is an Open Group for anyone interested in quilting, cross-stitch, sewing, embroidery, or crewel, knitting or crochet… or any other project that involves fabric, yarn, thread, etc. Stop by and work on your project with friends. Learn or share a new technique or just chat.
