SAINT AUGUSTINE — The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum and Flagler College presents an exhibition of recent work by full- and part-time faculty in Flagler College’s Department of Art and Design. The exhibition will open with a reception for the artists in conjunction with Art Walk, on Friday, Nov. 3 from. until 8 p.m. The exhibition continues through Dec. 2.

The artists’ bodies of work vary in method and material, and encompass painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, video, photography, print and digital design and animation, at times blurring the lines between multiple disciplines. The biennial faculty exhibition is an opportunity for each of these artist-teachers to share with the Flagler and St. Augustine communities their rich and varied studio practices, which so heavily inform their teaching practices.

As Department Chair Sara Pedigo states, “As a department we are devoted to creative invention and a diverse range of academic scholarship. We believe innovative pedagogy results from a robust and ongoing dedication to intellectual curiosity, material invention and the philosophy of artistic discovery.”

Pedigo goes on to say that exhibiting their work in the public sphere is vital in terms of the dialogue it creates between viewer and work, as well as between the works themselves, and “we are excited to share this passion and dedication with this community.”

Included in the exhibition are Sarah Alexander, Andrew Deming, Laura Denzer, Mike Fretto, Nathan Lewis, Diana Lodi, Logan Marconi, Don Martin, Russell Maycumber, Laura Mongiovi, Patrick Moser, Sara Pedigo, Leslie Robison, Jason Schwab, Chris Smith, Natalie Stephenson and Jayne Struble. This semester’s Art History intern and gallery assistants have assisted with the exhibition’s organization, including participating in artist studio visits, and will contribute texts about each artist that will accompany their included works.

Three of the artists have been invited to give lunchtime talks at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum to discuss their works. Jason Schwab, assistant professor of Art will discuss his sculpture and photography on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at noon..Jayne Struble, adjunct faculty, will talk about her drawing and video installation on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at noon.
