From landscaping to musical events

SAINT AUGUSTINE – The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension service in St. Johns County will conduct a Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM) certification workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Wind Mitigation Building, 3111 Agricultural Center Drive.

Participants of the course will complete the 6-hour training required in order to apply for a LCLM certification license. Six total Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded (3 LCLM and 3 Core) that can also be counted towards recertification for current LCLM license holders. Following the workshop, eligible participants will be offered the opportunity to take the LCLM certification exam.

Commercial landscape maintenance workers that apply any pesticides, including herbicides, in the landscape are required by law to be licensed. The LCLM Certification Program is designed to allow commercial landscape maintenance personnel to make pesticide applications, using materials such as glyphosate, with signal word “Caution,” to ornamental and plant beds only. It does not allow personnel to make applications to turf areas. Restrictions on application equipment also apply.

The registration fee is $50 and light refreshments will be served. The workshop is limited to 40 individuals. Pre-registration is required via Eventbrite (http://bit.ly/LCLM_SJC17) or by mailing a check payable to University of Florida to Bonnie Wells, UF/IFAS Extension St. Johns County, 3125 Agricultural Center Drive, St. Augustine, Florida, 32092.
