SAINT AUGUSTINE  – Tale Tellers of St. Augustine will present its first performance of 2018 at the Limelight Theatre, 11 Old Mission Avenue, Jan.30 at 7:30 p.m. This is the 25th Anniversary of the storytelling guild, originally formed in 1993. Chris Kastle and Joyce Sabato will join their widely acclaimed storytelling and musical talents presenting “Maritime Mysteries: St. Augustine and Beyond”.  They will blend their words and voices to guide a voyage through the mysteries of the watery worlds that linger just below the surface and to embrace the romance of the untamed sea and the unknown shore!  Further information about this program and other celebratory events or to purchase tickets online see www.taletellers.org.  For individual reservations and group discounts call 904-471-0179 or 386-439-9413.

Chris Kastle has performed throughout the United States and in Canada, Europe, and New Zealand.  She accompanies her songs on finger-style guitar and occasionally fiddle, penny whistle, spoons, bodhran or mandolin.  Her three most recent CDs reflect her versatility as a vocalist, musician, songwriter and storyteller.  Her book of short, scary maritime stories, From the Icy Fingers of the Deep, received five stars from Goodreads. Chris is also an exhibiting visual artist, educator, and one-time Tall Ship sailor living in the historic city of St. Augustine.  In 2015 she was presented with the Annette J. Bruce Lifetime Achievement Award by the Florida Storytelling Association.

Joyce Sabato is a seasoned storyteller, experienced educator and a musician with what has been described as “the voice of an angel”. She is a reverse snow bird from St. Augustine who recently returned to New England.  While in Florida, she performed at festivals, libraries and schools and served as President of the Tale Tellers of St. Augustine and on the Board of the Florida Storytelling Association.  Since moving back up North, she has been a featured Teller at Right Between the Ears in Rochester, NH, “Raising Our Voices” at the White Mountain Storytelling Festival, told as part of the Tellebration at the New Hampshire Technical Institute and participated in the First Annual Story Slam in Bedford, MA. Joyce remains a treasured member of the Tale Tellers of St Augustine. She is also on the Events Committee of the New England Story Telling Association and a member of the New Hampshire Story Telling Association.

Tale Tellers of St. Augustine is a performing guild devoted to the advocacy of storytelling as an art form and entertainment medium. Since the founding in January 1993, the guild promotes storytelling developing projects and programs which enable and educate its membership, provides cultural and educational enrichment to the St. Augustine area, and benefits the needy and disadvantaged of the community.
