Menendez students earn masonry honors at state Skills USA event

SAINT AUGUSTINE – The Pedro Menendez High School Masonry Team came home with first and second place in the Florida Skills competition held in late April in Pensacola.

This year’s team was composed of Ileish Smith, Kaylee Folckemer, Eric Macy,Justin Guerra, Hannah Hodge and Laurence Gosselin.

They were accompanied to Pensacola by Christine Danner, career program specialist at Menendez High School.

April 25, the Pilot Club of St. Augustine awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Donnie Heymen Scholarship Fund to help the students with their Pensacola trip.
