Discovery Marsh Walk
Date: Thursday, May 10, Time: 10– 11 a.m.
Location: Anastasia State Park: Explore the Anastasia Marsh Trail with a park ranger, and learn about the importance of estuarine systems that surround the inshore sides of barrier islands. Hikers will travel through the maritime hammock and tidal salt marsh while discovering the plant and animal life found in these natural communities. Suggested items to bring are binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, a camera, drinking water, bug spray, and sunscreen. Meet in front of the Ranger Station. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation.

Music In The Park: The Grapes of Roth
Date: Saturday, May 12, Time: 5– 8 p.m.
Location: Anastasia State Park: Anastasia State Park is hosting a summer concert series in partnership with Cape Leisure. Each concert will begin with an open jam session from 5 to 6 p.m. located at the Island Beach Grill inside the park. Guests and local musicians will be welcomed to the stage to showcase their talents, and each month will feature a different local musician or band for a two-hour show at our beach pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring your family and friends to enjoy music from local musicians in a casual and laid-back atmosphere.
The Grapes of Roth are an energetic classic rock trio based in Saint Augustine, Florida and founded by veteran area solo performer Elizabeth Roth. Performing in venues from Daytona to Saint Augustine to Jacksonville, this is a band made up of three talented friends who just happen to share similar tastes in music and the same philosophy towards their craft – they believe that their job is to make sure audiences have a good time! Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Island Beach Grill, along with awesome food and drink specials.

Guided Bird Walk
Date: Sunday, May 13. Time: 8:30– 10:30 a.m.
Location: Anastasia State Park:  Come meet the birds at Anastasia State Park on this monthly bird walk! This fun and informative walk is open to participants of all birding levels. Participants will observe a diverse variety of shore birds, marsh birds, and hammock birds by walking the beach, boardwalks, nature trails, and other areas. Please dress for the weather and bring binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes, and a field guide if you have one. Meet at the Island Beach Shop & Grill pavilion located at the end of the main park drive. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation.

Lunch With a Ranger

Dolphin Paddle on Salt Run
Date: Saturday, May 19, Time: 9 – 11 a.m.
Location: Anastasia Watersports at Anastasia State Park: Join Anastasia Watersports and Marineland Dolphin Adventure at Anastasia State Park as we team up to offer a fun-filled interpretive paddle of Salt Run. Our estuarine tidal marsh is teeming with plant and animal life – hop into a kayak, paddle onto Salt Run, and keep an eye for birds, turtles, manatees, and especially dolphins. Anastasia Watersports staff provides illuminating details about our ecosystem and the myriad wildlife that inhabit it. Terran, our dolphin expert from Marineland, will fill you in on fascinating facts about the dolphins that are born, breed, and thrive in our waterway. The event will start with 30 minutes of classroom discussion, followed by 90 minutes of paddling. Come out and enjoy real, undiscovered Florida!
Cost: Program fee: $40/person, includes boat rental, $25/person, provide your own boat. Park admission fees: ($8 per vehicle. Our Feathered Friends’ Hike & Marsh Walk
Date: Sunday, May 20, Time: 8:30. – 10:30 a.m.
Location: Fort Mose Historic State Park, 15 Fort Mose Trail: Bring in the Spring at Fort Mose Historic State Park! Join Birding Expert Susan Killeen on a hike and birding exploration of our Salt Marsh and the Secondary Fort Site Island (established 1752). Bring your rubber boots, binoculars, cameras, water, and any other pertinent items, to make your travel through the estuary more enjoyable. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation.

Ancient Dunes Trail Hike
Date: Tuesday, May 22, 2018
Time: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Location: Anastasia State Park, 300 Anastasia Park Road, St. Augustine, FL 32080
Description:
Come enjoy a guided hike through ancient dunes shaded by a maritime hammock. Discover the park’s natural communities while exploring this unique trail. Although only a mile long, this hike is more challenging than our other trails due to the natural sloping landscape. Please meet at the Hilltop Picnic Area, near the parking lot, and we will walk into the hammock together. Suggested items to bring are binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, a camera, drinking water, bug spray, and sunscreen. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation. This activity is Junior Ranger Passport Eligible! If you are a Florida State Park Junior Ranger, you can participate in this program to receive a Recreation Stamp in your Junior Ranger Passport.

World Turtle Day: Sea Turtle Talk
Date: Wednesday, May 23, Time: 11 a.m. – noon.

Location: Anastasia State Park: Join in celebrating World Turtle Day and discover the wonderful sea turtles of Anastasia State Park! You will learn about how we identify the turtle nests, hatching, and the great journey they begin after leaving the beach and the dangers they encounter in our oceans. This is a fun-filled, energetic program about these miraculous animals who have been on Earth for millions of years! This program will take place at the Sea Turtle Pavilion near the Island Beach Grill.
Cost: Free with regular park admission fee. ($8  per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle. $4  per single-occupant vehicle. $2  per pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass).

Sunset and Full Moon Paddle
Date: Tuesday, May 29. Time: 7:15 to 8:45 p.m.
Location: Anastasia State Park:  Join Anastasia Watersports and experience breathtaking views as the sun sets and the full-moon rises illuminating the Salt Run tidal basin. Multiple watercraft options include single kayaks, tandem kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Private boats welcome at a lower rate. Includes an interpretive, storytelling element during the paddle. Please check in at Anastasia Watersports 15 minutes prior to departure. Please call Anastasia Watersports at (904) 460-9111 or email, info@anastasiawatersports.com to make a reservation.
Cost:
Program fee: $35 for program and rental, including lifejackets and paddles. $20 for program, launch your own boat.

Anastasia Beach Mouse Talk
Date: Wednesday, May 30. Time: 10:30 – 11 a.m.
Location: Anastasia State Park. Join a Park Ranger in discovering the interesting world of the endangered Anastasia Beach Mouse. This informative program will include a short walk along the beach and the boardwalk as guests learn about the important relationship between our dunes and this illusive species. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation.
