Educator’s tours at Lightner

SAINT AUGUSTINE – New Educator’s Tours will be offered during the summer months at the Lightner Museum. June’s tour will be a 45-minute interactive tour presented by Lightner Museum’s educator and program coordinator, Ellen Morfit at 10a.m. June 6.

The tour titled, “A Picture Tells a Thousand Words”, will feature historic pictures from the museum’s collection of the Alcazar Hotel. By studying the photographs, visitors can identify what was popular for the hotel’s guests, basic customs and social norms, and compare it to their own life today. Along the way, Morfit will lead visitors through exhibition spaces of the museum’s permanent collection.

Ellen Morfit, Lightner Museum Educator and Program Coordinator joined the museum’s staff in March and brings with her a blast of knowledge, talent and enthusiasm. Morfit holds a Masters Degree in Museum Education and was previously an Educator from the Idaho State Historical Museum. Morfit is working to further grow museum programming and events.
Summer Educator’s Tours are perfect for all ages and will be offered in lieu of Curator’s tours on June 6, July 4, and Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Guests will be invited to participate in the antique mechanical music demonstration beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monthly Curator’s Tours will resume on Wednesday September 5, 2018.
