Special discount on neutering

SAINT AUGUSTINE  – In honor of Father’s Day, the St. Augustine Humane Society is offering a special discount on neutering male cats. Monday, June 18 from 8am until 4pm, a free neutering opportunity with $10 appointment fee will be offered.

The program runs in conjunction with the non-profit’s mission to encourage pet owners to save animal lives by spaying or neutering domestic and feral cats. The Humane Society is a certified ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance Clinic.

Space is limited for the one-day event. Additionally, female and feral cats receive a discount of $10 off regular spay fees. Other fee -based services are available at time of surgery. According to Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s Executive Director, the “Don’t Be A Father Day” neutering promotion will help prevent many felines from being taken to shelters or euthanized due to unwanted litters and colonies. “We continue to address feline overpopulation problems by focusing on prevention and working to eliminate the need to euthanize thousands of animals in St. Johns County,” said Smith.

The Humane Society’s spay and neuter clinic regularly offers low fees for all pets every Tuesday with the cost for female cat spaying at $55, neutering for male cats at $45.  Male dog neutering starts at $65 and female dog spaying starts at $75.

The St. Augustine Humane Society promotes healthy, responsible, lifelong pet ownership by serving the medical and rehabilitative needs of companion animals in our community. Their programs are designed to strengthen human-pet relationships by reducing the need for pets to enter shelters. The nonprofit’s goal is to encourage the humane treatment of animals, prevent overpopulation, and prevent animal suffering.
