Propagating kalanchoe plant

Q:   Can I take a cutting from my kalanchoe to get more plants? The plant is short so I do not know if this is how to propagate it.

A:    I would propagate it from leaf cuttings. Go low on the plant and harvest some mature leaves. These can be stuck base down into a pot of sandy course soil. Cover the pot with a plastic bag and place it in bright light but not in direct sunlight. The leaf will form roots and then a small plant.

Q:    I have a large bed of dwarf lantana. I love the way it looks but now something is chewing holes in its leaves. I have not spotted what is causing the damage. Do you know what it might be?

A:   Lantana is chewed by small garden snails. These will only be active at night. You can put out snail bait or use beer traps to reduce their activity.
