Commune with nature at state parks

SAINT AUGUSTINE – July activities at Anastasia and Fort Mose Parks have been announced.

DateSaturday, July 7 – 8. – 10 a.m., Location: Anastasia State Park, 300 Anastasia Park Road,: An educational volunteer day at Anastasia State Park! This special event will start with an interpretive hike down to the beach to discuss the beautiful natural resources all around you on our beautiful coastline.
After the talk, guests will be provided with tools for a beach cleanup session. If you have your own set of gloves or 5-gallon bucket, please bring them so we can reduce our own waste. It can be hot, so please dress appropriately for the weather and bring sunscreen, bug spray, and any other items that will make your hike more enjoyable.
To join, please meet at the Hilltop Picnic Area where you will sign-in to participate in the program. Park entry is free for participating volunteers! Bring your family and friends and start your summer off right – active and outdoors – all while helping to contribute to the local wildlife and ecology of Anastasia State Park!

Anastasia Watersports Summer Camp
DateJuly 9-12 –  Anastasia Watersports at Anastasia State Park, 850 Anastasia Park Road:  Discover watersports, hike through salt marshes, and explore the beaches during our second annual Anastasia Watersports Camp! Designed for children 9-12 years, campers will explore aquatic activities, develop basic paddling skills, and develop an appreciation for the ecology of oceans, estuaries, and tidal marshes. A Historical Look into the Old Spanish Quarries
Date: Wednesday, July 11 –  10. – 11 a.m.,: Anastasia State Park Experience a new perspective of the Old Spanish Quarries in relation to the famous Castillo de San Marcos, and the survival of Saint Augustine.Cost: Free with regular park admission fee. ($8.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle. $4.00 per single-occupant vehicle. $2.00 per pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass).
Let’s Talk Turtle
DateThursday, July 12 –  10 – 11 a.m., Anastasia State Park: Learn how to identify the turtle nests, hatching, and the great journey they begin after leaving the beach and the dangers they encounter in our oceans. This is a fun-filled, energetic program about these miraculous animals who have been on Earth for millions of years! This program will take place at the Sea Turtle Pavilion near the Island Beach Grill.

Dolphin Paddle on Salt Run
DateSaturday, July 14 –  8:30. – 10:30 a.m., Anastasia Watersports at Anastasia State Park: Join Anastasia Watersports and Marineland Dolphin Adventure at Anastasia State Park as we team up to offer a fun-filled interpretive paddle of Salt Run. The event will start with 30 minutes of classroom discussion, followed by 90 minutes of paddling. Come out and enjoy real, undiscovered Florida!
Cost: Program fee: $40/person, includes boat rental, $25/person, provide your own boat. Park admission fees: ($8.00 per vehicle. Our Feathered Friends’ Hike & Marsh Walk
DateSunday, July 15 – Time: 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., Fort Mose Historic State Park, 15 Fort Mose : Join Birding Expert Susan Killeen on a hike and birding exploration of our Salt Marsh and the Secondary Fort Site Island (established 1752). Bring your rubber boots, binoculars, cameras, water, and any other pertinent items, to make your travel through the estuary more enjoyable. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation.

Ancient Dunes Trail Hike

Guided Bird Walk

Sunset and Full Moon Paddle Friday, July 27 5  – 8:45 p.m.- Anastasia Waterports: Experience breathtaking views as the sun sets and the full-moon rises illuminating the Salt Run tidal basin. Please check in at Anastasia Watersports 15 minutes prior to departure. Please call Anastasia Watersports at (904) 460-9111 or email, info@anastasiawatersports.com to make a reservation. Music In The Park with THOSE GUYS
Date: Saturday, July 28 –  5 – 8 p.m.: Anastasia State Park: Anastasia State Park is hosting a Summer Concert Series in partnership with Cape Leisure. Each concert will begin with an open jam session from 5. to 6 p.m. located at the Island Beach Grill inside the park. Guests and local musicians will be welcomed to the stage to showcase their talents, and each month will feature a different local musician or band for a two-hour show at our beach pavilion from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring your family and friends to enjoy music from local musicians in a casual and laid-back atmosphere.
Combine passion, soul, energy, talent and you’ve got THOSE GUYS FLORIDA, a Classic Rock band that always leaves the crowds cheering and wanting more. Celebrating 25 years of traveling and performing all over the country, Those Guys are the band that’ll keep your feet dancing and show you a good time! Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Island Beach Grill, along with awesome food and drink specials.
