SJA Anchors welcome 15; install officers

SAINT AUGUSTINE – Members of the Anchor Club at St. Joseph Academy were challenged by Pilot Club president-elect Jo Brown to “Be more, care more, do more” Sept. 12 during installation and induction ceremonies conducted by members of the  Pilot Club of St. Augustine, Anchor’s sponsoring organization.

Fifteen SJA students were welcomed into membership of the service club for which projects include aid the homeless and less fortunate.

“Installations are very special programs,” Rene Naughton, Pilot sponsor along with Brown, told the new officers as she administered the oath of office to Joshua Ceballos, president; Gabriel Springer, vice president; Faith Donasco, secretary; Andoni Alfonso, treasurer; and Mollie Cavanaugh, chaplain.

Welcomed into membership were Alex Camacho, Will Curtis, Holly Darlington, Emily Deacon, Hope Donasco, Alejandro Fernandez, Andrew Fox, Mathew Fox, Jonathan Garcia, Kylie Guernick, Elen Hartenyan, Jasmine Melander, Frank Palmieri, Amber Quindoza and Thomas Whitehouse.

Also recognized at the brief ceremonies were Sister Suzan Foster and Laura Currie, who mentor the Anchors. Additional members representing the Pilot Club were Tadzia Alexander, president; and Lynne Stephenson, governor of the Florida District.

A reception hosted by Pilots followed the ceremonies.
