Musical festival benefits homeless
PALATKA – You can enjoy free music and help out those in need at the Palatka PorchFest Music Festival Dec. 1.
The inaugural fest is a free community event sponsored by the Southside Historical Neighborhood Association that will be Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Performances are free but a food drive for the Christian Service Center is being held. East access can goods and dry goods for the homeless will be accepted.
More than a dozen porches in the Southside Historic District will provide the backdrops for area entertainers and events.
Among performers signed up DJ Praiz & CJ Jamison (Christian hip hop, sponsored by Leo’s Fine Sushi), Dirty Rice (Cajun zydeco, sponsored by R&J Power Equipment), Sleek (R&B genre, sponsored by Azalea Health), Kenny Seabrook Jazztet (jazz, sponsored by Goosehead Insurance, Zach Landis Agency), Wire & Wood (bluegrass, sponsored by Grand Gables B&B). Harri Buffalo (country/folk music, sponsored by Grand Gables B&B), Dave Dion & Damon Slaughter (rock-n-roll, St. Johns Super Center), Lee Kelly (folk music, sponsored by Sweetwater Brewing Co.)
Also, The Deviljays (blues & rock-n-roll, sponsored by Schooner Freedom Charters), Buffalo Munn (blues music, sponsored by TimberFalls Tree Service), Linda Crider Band (folk music, sponsored by Bartram Inn), Hell & High Water Boys (country music, sponsored by Dapper Dan’s Barbershop), St. Monica Catholic Church Band (Christian music, sponsored by Dave’s Tops & Trim), Marcel & Mariana Pineda (Latino genre, sponsored by Mariachile’s Mexican Grill) and First Baptist & Mount Tabor Baptist Praise Bands (gospel music).
