Music of the season at St. Anastasia

SAINT AUGUSTINE – St. Anastasia Catholic Church invites the public to a Christmas Concert and Messiah Sing-Along at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22. Sacred music of the Christmas holiday season will include favorites like the Christmas Canon and O Holy Night, choruses from The Messiah, contemporary anthems, and Gospel arrangements. A string quartet led by Helen Morin will perform two of the concertos from Vivaldi’s L’estro armonico.
The holiday program will feature the Parish Chorale, children Choristers, and Sunday Morning 8 a.m. Ensemble under the direction of Peter Morin. Guest soloists include Joseph Colsant, Lisa Lockhart and Dirk McCoy. Curtis Powell will accompany on the piano and harpsichord and Michael Thomas will add rhythmic splash on the drums. There will be audience carol sing-along throughout the concert as well as 4 Messiah choruses, concluding with Handels’ masterpiece, Hallelujah Chorus.
The free event will take place in the church sanctuary, 5205 A1A South on Anastasia Island. There will be a free will offering for financial donations to help assist with expenses. Ample free parking is available. A wine and cheese reception, complete with holiday music, will follow in the parish Celebration Hall. For information call 471-5364.
