.March for Life, January 12
The walking procession begins at 11:20am from the Mission Nombre de Dios on San Marco Ave. then continues south to S. Castillo Dr., then along St. George St., to the Plaza de la Constitucion for an event lasting until 2:00pm. During the procession, which lasts less than 30 minutes, vehicular traffic along San Marco Ave. south of Mission Ave. will be interrupted.
To avoid delays during the event motorists may wish to use Ponce de Leon Blvd (U.S. 1) rather than San Marco Ave., and are urged to use caution in the vicinity of the Plaza from noon until approximately 2:00pm because of the increased number of pedestrians in the area.
Woman’s March, January 19
The walking procession begins at 10:00am from the east side of the Bridge of Lions, across the bridge using the north sidewalk, and proceeding north along the seawall to the Castillo de San Marcos.
The 10:00 bridge opening will be suspended per an approved request by the Florida Department of Transportation and the US Coast Guard. Two SAPD officers are assigned to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic for the duration of the march, which is expected to be clear of the bridge by 10:45am.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance, January 21
The procession will depart St. Paul’s AME Church, 85 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. at 11:30am. and walk along M. L. King, Jr. Ave., then King St. to the Gazebo in the Plaza de la Constitución for an event lasting until 3:00pm.
The procession will necessitate brief interruption of vehicular traffic along M. L. King, Jr. Ave. and King St. during the procession lasting for approximately 15 minutes. Motorists may wish to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
