Humane Society group back from veterinary conference in Orlando

SAINT AUGUSTINE – The St. Augustine Humane Society team of employees and volunteers recently attended the annual North American Veterinary Conference at the Orlando Convention Center from January 19 through 23. The Humane Society team has attended the Conference and Veterinary Expo and Meeting event since 2016.
This year, seven participants from the Humane Society attended the event including full time staff veterinarian Dr. Lauren Rockey. Dr. Rockey completed required continuing education classes focusing on pet dental care, surgery, lameness injuries, orthopedic and neurological issues, managing heart failure cases, and mandatory classes on new Florida pharmacy laws, among others. She also attended classes on pet skin conditions, canine epilepsy, gastrointestinal disease, and chronic kidney failure in cats.
Additional activities at the conference included staff participation in a range of classes and meetings with suppliers and vendors and the opportunity to network with veterinary professionals and guests from around the world including veterinarians, veterinary nurses, technicians, practice managers, students, speakers, veterinary team members and thought leaders in the profession.
The North American Veterinary Conference is held each January in Orlando and features the animal medical profession’s most current healthcare and product advances, and has become one of the largest events in the veterinary profession. The conference focuses on empowering veterinary professionals with insight, training and opportunities needed to provide better pet care and knowledge about product advances.
