CEDAR KEY – If you’re looking for mouth-watering smoked mullet this summer, there’s good news. Grandpa Moe is still in business in this gulf-side community, but you gotta waiting until the weekend. That’s when his little round white table with the matching chairs and the ice chests filled with the smoked delicacy can be found on the left side of the road when you’re heading in to Cedar Key on the only road that leads there – State Road 24.

Moe was out of sorts last year in early June, so there was no smoked mullet available. This year he admitted he’d just been released from the hospital, but there he was one Friday afternoon in early June, flanked by two friends, one of whom was selling healthy ornamental plants.

In addition to the smoked mullet sale items included smoked mullet dip and cold drinks.

For those with a taste for smoked mullet who are heading west to Cedar Key this summer, if you can’t find Moe, stop in at the Marathon one-stop store, on the right side of the highway just past Moe’s area. If he isn’t at his normal weekend spot practically anyone at the Marathon store where know where he is or if he’s not feeling up to par that day.
