City to honor Rahners
SAINT AUGUSTINE – The City of St.Augustine will honor residents Tom and Jean Rahner at 4 p.m. Sept. 9, when the talented couple receives the Order of La Florida, the highest honor betstowed by the city.
The ceremony is planned in the Alcazar Room, 75 King St.

For over half a century, the Rahners have drawn on their wide ranging talents to bring live theatre to the St. Augustine community. Together and as individuals their work includes every aspect of the theatre with each having spent time on stage, back stage and running the front of the house. They have each filled the role of actor, choreographer, stage manager, theatre manager, production designer, director, and producer and in doing so have enriched the cultural landscape of St. Augustine for decades.

The Galimore Community Pool reopened Aug. 7 after having to close last week when pumps essential to its operation failed.
New hours have been announced which will be in effect on Monday, August 12, the first day of classes for the St. Johns County School District.
The pool’s season was scheduled to end on Sunday, Sept. 29, but has now been extended by one week to Oct. 6 so as to accommodate for the days the pool was closed for repairs.
Operated by the St. Augustine Family YMCA, the pool is part of the Willie Galimore Community Center at 399 Riberia St. For more information contact the city’s General Services Department at 904.825.1010 or visit www.CityStAug.com.
