State legislators heard from citizens during a meeting Monday at the River Center in Palatka about the St. Johns River and other North Florida waterways. You can make a difference to Putnam County children by lending a hand with the Feed the Need program. That’s the program that provides a backpack of food for children to take home over the weekends. Volunteers are needed a couple of hours a month to help sort the food and send it to the schools. It happens every other Tuesday and kicked off this morning at Bramlitt’s Plumbing Warehouse in Palatka. To find out more or get involved, message or call 386-937-3862. More than 800 children each week take a backpack home so they’ll have something to eat over the weekend.
