Synagogue rites this weekend

Rabbi Joel Fox will lead the Shabbat services at First Congregation Sons of Israel for Friday, Sept.13, 7:30 p.m., and for Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m.  An Oneg Shabbat will follow Friday evening’s Erev Shabbat service that will be prepared by Karen Stern
A highlight kiddush lunch sponsored by Lois Cohen will follow Saturday’s Shabbat service. 

These are the first Shabbat services since Hurricane Dorian came through, and damage was very minimal to the synagogue.  Besides the storm not getting too close to St. Augustine, the thorough job of battening down the vent openings, the front and back doors, and the hatch openings to the crawl space really kept out the flooding that happened to the parking lot and to Cordova Street. This battening down represented some very hard work in some very hot weather!
