Kessler is Flagler forum guest

SAINT AUGUSTINE – Glenn Kessler, editor and chief writer for the Washington Post Fact Checker presents “Fast Checking and the Truth in the Age of Trump” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, part of the Forum on Government and Public Policy series. The event, at Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium, 14 Granada St., is free.

Kessler is the award-winning editor for the Washington Post’s Fact Checker. He’s been at The Fact Checker since 2011 and in his three decades in journalism, has accumulated honors and awards including Honorable Mention, Toner Prize for Excellence in Political Reporting; Media Literate Media award, National Association for Media Literacy Education; Premier Award, Aviation Space Writers Association; Investigative Reporting award from the Silurians Press Club (formerly the Society of the Silurians).

 His work includes covering airline safety, Wall Street, foreign policy, economic policy, politics, Congress and the White House. On the White House, Kessler’s book “The Confidante: Condoleezza Rice and the Creation of the Bush Legacy” focused on what he gleaned while traveling around the world with three secretaries of state, including Rice.

 Kessler previously worked as the Post’s national business editor, as well as a reporter for Newsday. He currently serves as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and as an advisory board member for the International Fact-Checking Network. He is frequently asked to give expert insight on various television programs and lectures on U.S. foreign policy.  

 He has his bachelor’s in history from Brown University and a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University.  

 For more than 30 years, the Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy has invited nationally-recognized journalists and commentators to St. Augustine to discuss issues of importance in regional, state and federal government. All Forums take place in Lewis Auditorium, 14 Granada St., at 7 p.m.

 Forums are free and open to the public, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
