Pause for paws benefit
SAINT AUGUSTINE – The St. Augustine Humane Society will host its annual fundraising event to celebrate the completed Pin Up Paws pet calendar for 2020 to be revealed at the Pin Up Paws Party on Thursday, Nov. 7 beginning at 6 pm, Guy Harvey Resort, 860 A1A Beach Blvd, St Augustine Beach. The pet calendar contest was another success for the nonprofit organization raising more than $21,000 from online photo submissions, votes and donations.

The Pup party and calendar theme this year is “Pets Ahoy” with event tickets available for purchase at $65 per person for dinner, live music, silent auction, wine pull, magic show, refreshments, one complimentary calendar, meet-and-greet with pirates from Krewe of the 13, among others during the fun event. Calendars are also available for $10 each starting in November with purchase available online, by phone, or at the Humane Society plus area retail locations. The Humane Society is located at 1665 Old Moultrie Rd. in St. Augustine. For more information and to purchase event tickets, visit the website at www.PUPparty.org.
An online auction will launch on Friday, October 18 at www.PUPauction.org, and includes a 2017 four seat golf cart, South African photographic safari, gift certificates for local services, gift baskets from local merchants, restaurant certificates, jewelry, rare and fine wines, and more. All proceeds from the calendar contest and sales along with the event and silent auctions will benefit the programs and services of the St. Augustine Humane Society’s veterinary clinic and current expansion. The fundraiser also supports the non-profit’s mission of promoting healthy lifelong pet ownership and reducing the rate of relinquishment to shelters. Styling and photography sessions for winning calendar pets were donated by award winning photographer, Addison Fitzgerald. For the fifth year, the Humane Society received a promotional billboard from Clear Channel Outdoor along I-95 in St. Johns County, and Columbia Restaurant Community Harvest gift certificate donations.
