Lifelong learning from wine to dance
SAINT AUGUSTINE – The Adult and Continuing Education program’s Fall B semester for Lifelong Learning begins on Oct. 28. New classes to be offered include the Wine International Tour Series, Spanish Gypsy Skirt Dance, Smooth Jazz Guitar and Afro-Caribbean Dance. Classes meet once a week for six weeks ad are affordable, non-degree seeking courses.
The center for Adult and Continuing Education on Flagler’s campus began four years ago in an effort to: open its doors to the local community to show a commitment to its development; support the training and development needs of local organizations with the Corporate Training & Professional Development program (CTPD) which in turn contributes to the economic development of the region; offer options to local high school and college students for an essential service with the Test Preparation Center.
“All studies related to longevity and happiness point to the need for lifelong learning programs because they provide the community with accessible, significant and meaningful experiences,” said the program’s director, Jorge Herrera.
Lifelong Learning courses are meant to enrich the community, including the campus community, by encouraging members to build relationships on the basis of shared knowledge. There are six categories for Lifelong Learning courses, including: art, dance and music; health and well-being; history and literature; language and cultures; personal enrichment; and technology and media.
The Fall B 2019 semester runs from Oct. 28 to Dec. 18.
