Good solution for insect bites
- Q: The insects have been vicious thus year. What is a homemade solution that is applied to insect bites?
A: Make a paste of baking soda or meat tenderizer and water. Apply this paste to the insect bites.
Q: Are the ladybugs sold at nurseries really effective at controlling other insects?
A: Yes and no. Ladybugs are carnivores. They will stick around and hunt insects as long as they are plentiful. Once pests are controlled, the ladybugs will be off to happier hunting grounds.
Q: I have a 10-foot variegated ficus tree in an atrium. Some of the leaves are falling. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
A: If you see new growth emerging on your ficus tree, then the leaf drop is normal and there is no need for concern.
