March 14 concert at St. Anastasia

SAINT AUGUSTINE – A surprise performer has been added to the Powell Trio concert program on March 14 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, according to Peter Morin, director of music and organizer of the annual concert series.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the church located at 5202 A1A South on Anastasia Island and features the Powell Trio with violinist Helen Morin, pianist Curtis Powell and trumpeter Randy Tinnin. Returning for the third consecutive year in the concert series, the trio will perform works by Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Gershwin and Piazzolla.

Curtis Powell is director of music at Ancient City Baptist Church. Randy Tinnin is Director of the University of North Florida School of Music, and Helen Morin, is JSYO Conductor and teacher at R.B. Hunt Elementary School.

Morin announced that a special guest singer will perform only “one song”.

While Morin withheld the name of the vocalist, he did share that she has never formally studied voice and is a local woman who has limited performance experience.

“She blew me away when I heard her at a recent wedding,” he said, adding that he can’t wait to introduce her to his friend Gregory Sheppard, artistic director of Opera Ebony NYC.

A free-will collection will be taken at the concert for those who wish to contribute to the event expenses. Free parking is provided at the church..
