Services canceled at Sons of Israel

SAINT AUGUSTINE – In order to promote the safety of the synagogue members and friends, beginning with this Friday, March 20, 2020, Sabbath services on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings for the next 30 days services are suspended at the First Congregation Sons of Israel.

Also suspended is the Passover Community Seder that was scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2020. Les Stern, president of the congregation notes: “We are sad that this physical separation has been mandated locally, by the State of Florida, and nationally. We are hopeful that this emergency medical situation will abate in order to allow us to reopen in the near future.

“For this coming Erev Shabbat, Rabbi Bella Bogart will be live streaming the service via the First Congregation Sons of Israel FaceBook page at 7:30 pm. In addition, we will be downloading that service and will send it out to you on YouTube video via email.

“As a further resource listed are the links to various United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) affiliate members who regularly live stream their Sabbath services.

“In this time of social distancing, we want to encourage you to follow the CDC guidelines to lessen the likelihood of your contracting the CoronaVirus. Please stay safe during this health crisis and do not hesitate to contact me by email or telephone (904-824-2638), if I can provide additional information or be of any assistance to you.”
